World Cup

So ladies and gentlemen, it's that time again. Once every four years we get to watch the World Cup. I've always enjoyed watching it, even though I'm not normally the biggest soccer fanboy in the world. There's just something about supporting my country that I really enjoy and think this vital to being a true American.

Yesterday we witnessed what may be one of the biggest mistakes in the history of sports. The USA team faced off against the challenging British national team. Britain came out and scored a goal four minutes into the game. About forty minutes into the game, nearing intermission, Clint Dempsey kicked the ball towards the goal for the US without much power, but the bumbling fuckwad British goalie dropped the ball and it went in, making the game a 1-1 tie heading into halftime.

The second half showed the Americans were resilient, and while they did not score again they didn't give up any goals, and they kept the tempo of the game going for them. They were definitely in control, especially at the end. I was very proud of their resurgence, and I'm looking forward to the next game, Friday against Slovenia.
