Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum

Well boys and girls, I got back from vacation a few days ago. Had a good time chilling and seeing people and stuff like that. I got pictures from some of the cool places I went, and I'll just blog about them. Today I'll share my impressions of the museum at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

It's basically just a bunch of old race cars, like the one above. I think it's interesting to see some of the designs. I'm not a very big racing fan, but nonetheless I had a nice time learning more about the sport and it's history.

My favorite part was finding out something about my family history. The guy who won the first ever Indianapolis 500 was my grandfather's uncle. He was also the guy who invented rear-view mirrors. Yes, I am related to people that did something other then rant. Anyway, here's his car.

We only stayed about an hour, because my grandpa got pissed off at some lady and wanted to get the hell outta there. I got a few pics of the actual track area too. I've seen a couple races here before, but I was young and don't remember that much about them.

On a final note, my second favorite part of the museum was being able to take this picture. While I was taking it, this black hoebag was like "DAT WHITE BOY GETTIN HIS PICTCHASSS!" lol

Eminem- Recovery Album Review

Eminem's new album, Recovery, came out a few weeks ago and I figured I should write what I thought about it. Eminem was one of the first rappers I ever liked. I've been listening to him for around seven years now, and he's still one of my favorites (probably in my top 10.) His 2009 effort, Relapse, was better then most of the shit that comes out these days, but wasn't nearly as strong as his previous albums.

When Recovery first leaked, I was expecting something similar to Relapse, not as much content wise, but more style-wise. When Eminem first dropped, he was known for being very controversial, both for the violent content of his lyrics and for making fun of people. Relapse was more about being a psycho drug addict rapist, and the majority of the songs were terrible. I was somewhat expecting him to drop a CD full of shitty gospel tracks. When I first listened to Recovery, I was surprised in a positive way, but not how I was expecting.

Rather then returning to his comedic and over-the-top style of his first four albums, Recovery mostly has an upbeat, inspirational feel to it, without being overly cheesy. I was initially, and still very much upset that pre-Relapse Eminem is now officially gone. No more fun tracks like "Without Me" or "The Real Slim Shady". I'll get over it. Recovery has a lot of very strong tracks, and only a few sub-par ones. My favorites are "Cold Wind Blows", which addresses those who try to compare Slim Shady to other rappers (which is silly because he's really in his own genre, aside from D12.) Going Through Changes was another song I really liked. Eminem talks about how he has left behind his goofier side in exchange for a grown up version who can look back at everything he's been through. My favorite track by far though is "You're Never Over", which is dedicated to the deceased rapper Proof, who was Eminem's best friend and was a bandmate in the group D12. Eminem depicts Proof as his guardian angel and acknowledges that he would be nothing if it wouldn't have been for Proof and how Proof keeps him strong even though he's dead. I felt this was a very honest and deep song with meaning to it.

There were some crappier songs on this album, such as Won't Back Down, W.T.P., 25 to Life, and Cinderella Man. I couldn't really get any meaning out of them, and that's usually how I distinguish songs as good or bad.

Overall I'd say this was a good but not great CD. I'll give it a 7.5/10. It's probably going to be popular, but with a newer generation that never liked him before. Older Eminem fans such as myself will probably stick to his earlier work. I will say this album was probably a step in the right direction though, and I'm looking forward to what's next for Marshall Mathers.

Tech N9ne Concert

Last night I went to see Tech N9ne, one of my favorite rappers, in concert. Me and a few of my friends went up to Baltimore to see him and it was a really good concert. I didn't bring my camera so I don't have any pictures, but I just wanted to say it was far and away the funnest concert I've ever been to. He sounds exactly the same live as he does on his CDs, there was no difference at all. I thought that was pretty cool.

There aren't very many people who have heard of Tech N9ne though. They never play him on the radio. His music is very unusual compared to most rap but I really enjoy it. He's sold over a million records, a big deal for an underground rapper. I'll post some of my favorite songs of his below. Listen if you'd like.

World Cup

So ladies and gentlemen, it's that time again. Once every four years we get to watch the World Cup. I've always enjoyed watching it, even though I'm not normally the biggest soccer fanboy in the world. There's just something about supporting my country that I really enjoy and think this vital to being a true American.

Yesterday we witnessed what may be one of the biggest mistakes in the history of sports. The USA team faced off against the challenging British national team. Britain came out and scored a goal four minutes into the game. About forty minutes into the game, nearing intermission, Clint Dempsey kicked the ball towards the goal for the US without much power, but the bumbling fuckwad British goalie dropped the ball and it went in, making the game a 1-1 tie heading into halftime.

The second half showed the Americans were resilient, and while they did not score again they didn't give up any goals, and they kept the tempo of the game going for them. They were definitely in control, especially at the end. I was very proud of their resurgence, and I'm looking forward to the next game, Friday against Slovenia.

I Love Chris Christie

No people, I'm not a raging homo, but I really love what New Jersey governor Chris Christie had to say to two stupid liberal crybabies at his town hall:

I love his response to that teacher bitch. I hate it when my teachers say they don't make enough money. I always ask them why don't they get a new job and they get pissed. It's cool seeing a politician ask the same thing. The lady in the video is a whiny bitch. Too bad she didn't get married to a man with money. My own mother is a teacher and hates it when her co-workers whine because nobody forced them to be a teacher. If they didn't want to make what little money they do, they should have went into another job. Plain and simple, that's how this country works, and if you don't like it you can get the fuck out.

John Wall or Evan Turner?

My favorite NBA team, the Washington Wizards, were blessed on Tuesday night with the first pick in the upcoming NBA draft. The draft will take place on June 24, about a month from now. The Wizards were supposed to get the fourth pick, but thanks to the lottery they got the 1st. It was known that they were probably going to take Derrick Favors from Georgia Tech or Demarcus Cousins from Kentucky. Both of those players are forwards, and although the Wizards have an alright team down-low consisting of budding star Andray Blatche, a very solid player in Al Thornton, and a promising young player in Javale McGee, the team could've used another big body underneath (no homo.)

But obviously now the Wizards have the first pick. This opens up literally tons of possible scenarios for this team to take. They are probably going to take either John Wall of Kentucky or Evan Turner of Ohio State. Both are very qualified basketball players and both would contribute to the Wizards in their own way. I'll break down what they would offer to the Wizards below.

John Wall. That name was synonymous with college basketball last year. He brought the Kentucky basketball program back to it's powerhouse status that had been lost in recent years. Wall is a tall point guard at 6'4", and plays a lot like Dwayne Wade in my opinion, except slightly less athletic. I think he has better court vision though, almost like a Steve Nash. Wall can totally dominate games if necessary, a lot like disgruntled Wizards star Gilbert Arenas. He can also hold back and be more of a team player, if someone like Blatche decides he wants to score 30 points that night. I think John Wall is going to be a superstar in the NBA if he is given the right surroundings.

The problem is, the Wizards still have the aforementioned Arenas under contract, for many years to come and for a lot of money. A few seasons ago, Arenas was arguably one of the league's top 5 players, averaging almost 30 points a game. With a lot of injury problems and some criminal activities keeping him largely off the court for the last three seasons. Arenas showed signs of prominence last year before he was suspended, but is he the Gilbert of old? It's hard to say, really. He could still contribute a lot to this team. I doubt he is ever going to average anything close to 30 points a game again. There's nothing wrong with that, except the Wizards have a ton of their salary devoted towards him. What's to do, trade him? Buy him out of his contract? I don't know if there are any teams out there that would want to take on his contract. Buying him out would also be very expensive, perhaps the upwards of $50 million. Do the Wizards want to be paying their second best PG that much money? No.

There is one way they could avoid this problem, and that is drafting Evan Turner. Turner can play both guard position and small forward if needed. That way there would be no conflict with Arenas at all. However, Turner is not the player Wall is and never will be. This is not The Gilbert Arenas Show, this is the Washington Wizards. They're supposed to be a basketball team rather then a squad built around a once-prominent superstar. If something doesn't work because of Arenas, get him the fuck outta here.

That's why I think the Wizards should choose John Wall in the draft. We have absolutely no idea how a Wall/Arenas back court combo would fare, and we shouldn't trade Arenas without knowing. It could very well work, and work very well. And if it doesn't work, then Arenas can be dealt with. This is going to be Wall's team more then Arenas' team moving forward. If Arenas wants out, and the team wants him out, he could probably be moved at the deadline, or maybe even after the season. The Wizards could then go after in free agency next summer.

All in all, I want the Wizards to draft Kentucky point guard John Wall. He is a game-altering player and is going to be an All-Star within a couple of seasons. If he isn't a huge bust, he is easily going to be a perrinial all-star, especially if current Wizards players like Blatche and Thornton keep growing around him, not to mention veterans who may or may not be back like Arenas, Miller, Howard, and others. If managed correctly, this Wizards team may be heading for stardom.

Don't Mess With Mama Grizzlies!

Sarah Palin, who is one of my favorite politicians, was giving a speech at an anti-abortion meeting up in DC a few days ago. She made an interesting comment about why mothers should not be fucked with, or something to that degree. She has officially coined the term "Mama Grizzlies", meaning a mom who is protective of her children, or in this case cubs!

I think this is really cool. I love how somebody so humble and down-to-earth is out there talking politics in Washington. Hopefully she'll run in 2012 and kick Obama's stupid ass back to Kenya!
